ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

Current Location: Valley City, North Dakota

Hometown: Montrose, Minnesota

Occupation: Professional angler, guide, and law enforcement officer.

My name is Trevor Mishler. I have been passionate about fishing for as long as I can remember, getting my start in youth bass tournaments and quickly developing a deep respect for the sport, the water, and the process behind becoming a successful angler. What began as a childhood passion has evolved into a lifelong pursuit of knowledge, discipline, and continuous growth both on and off the water.

Over the years, I have expanded my experience through competitive fishing, guiding, and building relationships within the outdoor industry. I am currently aligned with multiple companies and operate Mishler Outdoors, where I combine my passion for fishing with the opportunity to teach, mentor, and share the experience with others.

In addition to guiding, I founded the Northeast South Dakota Anglers Association (NESDAA), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization built on the goal of providing underprivileged youth with access to fishing and the outdoors. What began as a local initiative has since transitioned alongside my move to North Dakota, where it is evolving into the Northern Plains Anglers Outreach (NPAO).

While still in its early stages, NPAO is being developed with a long-term vision of expanding access to outdoor opportunities across the region. The foundation is centered on creating structured, meaningful experiences that introduce individuals to fishing in a way that is both approachable and impactful.

One of the primary initiatives in development is the Fish with a Cop program. This concept is focused on building positive relationships between law enforcement and the community through time spent on the water. The goal is to create an environment where barriers are reduced, conversations are natural, and trust can be built through shared experience.

At its core, this effort reflects my belief that the outdoors provides a unique platform for mentorship, connection, and long-term impact, even if that process starts small and grows over time.

As a guide, I specialize in the fisheries of eastern North Dakota, northeastern South Dakota, and western Minnesota, with a strong focus on the prairie pothole region. These bodies of water present unique challenges that require adaptability, attention to detail, and a strong understanding of seasonal patterns. Whether fishing recreationally, competitively, or guiding clients, I take pride in approaching every outing with purpose and professionalism.

My goal is simple: Continue to grow the sport, represent the outdoors in a positive way, and provide others with an experience that is both enjoyable and meaningful.
